Venice Part 3: Piazza San Marco

Day Two in Venice and after a breakfast of bananas and biscuits (please recall that we were students on a budget), Anna and I were ready to hit the piazza and check out the beautiful and famous Saint Mark’s Square.  We walked part of the way then caught the vaporetto to the iconic Piazza, two small figures among the hundreds of tourist ooh-ing and ahh-ing at our surroundings.

On eating lunch

It is a truth universally acknowledged that a freshly grilled panino alla salsiccia can never taste as good as a freshly grilled panino alla salsiccia eaten whilst overlooking Florence and enjoying the beginnings of the summer sun gently kissing your shoulders.

Venice Part 2: Our Vaporetto Trip to Lido !

So, after finding our amazingly dodgy hostel and checking in, Anna and I were ready to hit the town, explore the streets, investigate the city of canals.  We left the dark alleyway in which we were lodging and emerged into the glaring Venetian sun.  Within about two minutes we could already feel ourselves burning and were getting sweaty – and it was only the first of June, for goodness’ sake!
